The Fish Health Section of the Asian Fisheries Society was founded in 1989 and organises symposia and workshops to improve regional knowledge on fish health management for the aquaculture industry. |
| Four previous Symposia held in Asia, each brought together over 170 fish health scientists, students, government workers and industry practitioners from some 20 countries to discuss disease problems affecting aquaculture production. |
| The 5th triennial Symposium will be held at the Gold Coast International Hotel in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia with its warm sunny weather and endless golden beaches. Surfers Paradise is located on the Gold Coast, 60 minutes drive south of Brisbane and is serviced by both Brisbane International and Coolangatta airports. | |
| The Symposium will be followed by two satellite workshops: Epidemiology and Risk Assessment from 29-30 November 2002 to be held at the Gold Coast International Hotel and the Asia Pacific Regional Molluscan Health Management Training Workshop Phase II from 29 November - 4 December 2002 to be held at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. |
