Seminar on the Status of Fish Disease Research in Japan 
Held in conjunction with the Second Asian Fisheries Forum, 
17-23 April, 1989, Tokyo, Japan 


Eighty six scientist attended this one-day seminar, which was organized by Dr. T. Kimura of Hokkaido University and sponsored by the AFS and the IDRC. Presentations reviewing: 
  • Viral infections of cultured fishes in Japan (M. Yoshimizu and T. Kimura); 
  • Bacterial infections of cultured fishes in Japan (T. Muroga), 
  • History and recent trends of fish parasitology in Japan (K. Ogawa), and 
  • The fish disease control plan in Japan (K. Kijima, K. Yasunaga, S. Oda, R. Koseki, and S. Matsuda) 
    These were made by noted Japanese scientists.

FAO Regional Expert Consultation on Aquatic Animal Health Management in Asia and the Pacific 
22-24 May, 1995, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Serdang, Malaysia 

This consultation, jointly organized by the Fishery Resource Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the AFS/FHS, brought together 16 experts to review the present status and future prospects of aquaculture health management in the Asia-Pacific, to promote closer collaboration among regional governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental institutions involved in aquaculture health management, and to identify avenues to facilitate closer collaboration between FAO and the key institutions involved in aquaculture health management in the Asia-Pacific
